Student loan scams are rampant and becoming more sophisticated
People have reported receiving legitimate sounding phone calls, emails, letters, and/or text messages offering them relief from their student loans or warnings about pending student loan forgiveness timelines.
If NMEAF is your loan servicer, please note:
- We will never charge you a fee for helping with your student loans.
- We will never promise immediate and total loan forgiveness or cancellation.
- We will never ask you for your FSA ID or password.
We are here to help you find and enroll in the best Federal Student Loan repayment plan. Enrollment in federal student loan repayment plans is always available to you free of charge. Repayment plans and programs are set by Federal law and no company can negotiate on your behalf in order to get you a better deal.

Here’s some advice to remember if you get contacted by a company claiming student loan debt relief:
Never give them your Social Security Number or FSA ID
Ask them if they are affiliated with the Department of Education.
(If they claim they are, tell them you will check them out and call them back after you verify this claim.)
Ask if you can do what they are offering on your own for free.
(Enrollment in all repayment and forgiveness plans is cost-free).
